Exporters find that outsourcing inventory management delivers competitive advantage by placing products in warehouses located closer to their customers and ensuring inventory levels are better regulated to prevent products being over stocked or out of stock.

Outsourcing logistics enables you to set up an offshore distribution infrastructure quickly and leverage the multi-carrier capabilities that only UPS can offer. UPS has more than 35 million square feet of distribution and warehousing facilities around the world. They are strategically located at approximately 1,000 sites in more than 120 countries and are often sited at UPS’ own airports. Outsourcing therefore taps into an unrivalled distribution network.

UPS’ package delivery fleet includes more than 96,000 cars, trucks, tractors and motorcycles, including more than 2,800 alternative-fuel and technology vehicles. The freight delivery fleet comprises more than 5,700 vehicles and more than 19,500 trailers. UPS has 237 jet aircraft and charters a further 293, which are operated out of a network of air hubs in North America, Europe and Asia. More than 220 countries and territories are serviced.

Outsourced warehousing positions products closer to customers, thereby reducing time-in-transit and overall transportation costs. Depending on whether goods are being transferred between warehouses or delivered to customers, the most cost and time efficient method of transportation is automatically used. Optimal inventory location combined with optimal transportation results in the fastest delivery at the lowest cost.

Today’s marketplace demands uninterrupted product flow and on time delivery of critical orders. If retailers and distributors are unable to continuously replenish inventory, customers may take their business elsewhere - putting profits and reputation at risk.

Networked distribution points mean alternative routing can take place when unusual events occur, thereby reducing the risk of disruption. Another major benefit to outsourcing logistics to UPS is being able to leverage the company’s sophisticated enterprise resource planning, distribution, and visibility technology.
