Outrage as scammer gangs target Notre Dame blaze fund donors

Criminals are scamming people trying to donate to the fund to rebuild Notre Dame.

Details emerged as French President Emmanuel Macron paid an emotional tribute to the firefighters who fought the blaze which destroyed the cathedral’s spire in Paris on Monday.

The Heritage Foundation, which is organising the fund, said it is outraged by gangs trying to cash in. A spokesman said: “Many scams have been reported to us in France and abroad. We do not raise funds by email, mail or phone.”

Multinational donors and private contributors have already helped raised £1billion.
