Outrage after labrador found underweight and bleeding in Edinburgh park - can you help?

The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a male dog was found in Gracemount, Edinburgh suffering from health issues - including being severely underweight with a bleeding mass in his scrotum.

The animal welfare charity was alerted to the chocolate Labrador after a member of the public discovered him in St Katherine’s Park in Gracemount - near Liberton - on 11 February in a terrible state. No owner has come forward to claim him so far.

Scottish SPCA inspector John Toule said:

“We were notified that a sick dog had been discovered by a member of the public in a local park.

“The dog was so thin and unwell, we had to arrange urgent veterinary treatment.

“He was found to be underweight with a bleeding, infected mass in his scrotum.

“One of our animal rescue and rehoming centres is providing him with the care he needs.

“We are keen to speak to his owner as soon as possible, or anyone else who can tell us more about how the dog came to be in this condition.

“We would urge anyone who recognises him or knows anything to contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
