Outrage after KFC customers dump litter on floor after restaurants reopen

People have expressed their disgust after images of KFC packaging left strewn across the road emerged as restaurants reopen across the UK.

Wayne Hood took to Twitter to share his outrage at finding the rubbish lying around in Bury, Greater Manchester.

He shared the "unbelievable" photos and gained a huge response, with hundreds of people replying in agreement.

Mr Hood said: "We as a race are disgusting (some of us).

"I’ve worked all... through this lockdown as a key worker. Never seen the place so clean".

He added: "You open a few shops... And let your customer’s [sic] Leave car park in a state like this overnight. Shocking behaviour."

Others agreed, with a user called Robert saying: "Should be made to put your details (car reg/name on the packaging) for future reference".

Matt, another user, wrote: "I'm ashamed by my fellow man sometimes. There is no excuse for dropping litter anywhere, but this is disgusting behaviour."

KFC said: “We’re really pleased to see the people of Bury have missed us and we’re glad to be back - but with a lot of our cleaning partners still on furlough, it a little trickier than usual to stay nice and tidy.

“Being a good neighbour is important to us, so we’ll carry on upping our regular litter picks - and we’d encourage our guests to take their litter with them or put it in the bin where possible.”

Bury Council has been contacted for comment.

KFC closed all its stores on March 23 but recently reopened some branches.
