Outrage after groom's mother upstages bride by wearing a white fishtail gown to wedding

A woman has been accused of trying to upstage her new daughter-in-law by wearing a white fishtail gown to her son's wedding.

The mother of the groom certainly appeared to steal the show after photographs from the wedding were shared on social media.

She is pictured posing with bridesmaids wearing a strapless, lacy white fishtail gown in a way that makes it look like she is the bride.

It all comes down to generally accepted etiquette that it is a serious faux pas for anyone other than the bride to wear a white dress when invited to share in someone's special day, writes the Mirror Online.

The caption on the photograph posted online said: “You guys, this is my husband’s aunt at her son’s wedding. Lady, TF are you doing?!”

Images were shared of her on the That’s It, I’m Wedding Shaming Facebook group, and showed the bride wearing a remarkably similar gown herself.

Other Facebook users reacted with outrage at the dress choice of the mother of the groom.

Numerous people were quick to comment how wrong it was.

One wrote: “What a pathetic attention seeker.”

Another added: “Weeeeirdoooooo.”

A third said: “Yikes. I like it more than the bride’s dress."

While a user agreed, saying: “I'd be refusing to pose with her.”

The poster didn’t reveal the bride’s reaction when she saw the extremely bold dress, but one can imagine she wasn’t best pleased.
