Outlander star Sam Heughan spotted enjoying dinner at top Edinburgh restaurant

Outlander star Sam Heughan was back in the capital this week as he paid a visit to one of the city's top restaurants.

The Scots actor popped into The Kitchin in Leith to film a scene for Men in Kilts with co-star Graham McTavish.

The pair, who have just returned from filming in New Zealand, were photographed with top chef and owner Tom Kitchin.

The celebrity chef shared the moment on social media with the trio appearing to be having a lively discussion as they tucked into Scottish cuisine.

According to the Scottish Daily Express, the chef wrote on Twitter: “I thought I must share some behind the scenes shots from when we had these great guys @samheughan & @grahammctavish here at The Kitchin filming ‘Men in Kilts’ @meninkiltsstarz #Starz.

“Great fun to film and OMG what a popular show… I love chatting to so many of our American guests who have seen the show and looked us up because of it.

“Just wonderful seeing tourists and visitors in Edinburgh again supporting the many amazing hospitality businesses in Scotland. We’ve missed you all.”

It comes less than two weeks after Sam Heughan was previously seen in the capital after the star took part in the Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride.

Raising awareness of prostate cancer, the actor sent many fans into frenzy after he rode into the city on a motorcycle.

Fans flocked to compliment the Scots actor with one writing "Honestly, should Harrison Ford ever pass the mantle of Indiana Jones on to someone - I hope, with all fingers and toes crossed - it’s you that gets it!"
