Outlander star Sam Heughan pops into Glasgow book shop ahead of Clanlands launch

Sam Heughan has revealed his pride about his much-anticipated latest project.

The Scots actor popped into his local Waterstones today ahead of tomorrow's launch of the new book he's written with fellow Outlander star Graham McTavish.

The hard-working Jamie Fraser heartthrob took a trip to the store at Glasgow's Sauchiehall Street, to sign copies of Clanlands for some lucky fans before they hit shelves.

And he couldn't help but share his excitement about seeing so many copies of the "lovely wee book" the duo have created.

Sharing an image of him scribbling, Sam said: "Popped into my local Waterstones to sign some copies of Clanlands, released tomorrow! So excited and proud to see so many copies of our lovely wee book."

The book is not all the hard-working actors have had up their sleeves before they get back to filming for season six of Outlander.

The pair recently finished filming scenes for 'Men in Kilts', which sees them go on an adventure around Scotland.

Originally meant to be a podcast, Clanlands morphed into what would become the TV show however during lockdown they decided to write a book to accompany their new travel show.

Much like the programme, the book will focus on Scotland's history, culture, and clans.

Jokingly describing it as a "confessional meets a road trip meets a death-defying experience", the duo say the non-fiction piece is about 'Whisky, Warfare and a Scottish Adventure Like No Other'.

Written over the past few months, it features stories of the men themselves and delves into their friendship, careers and their time on Outlander.

Featuring a foreword by Outlander author Diana Gabaldon, the book will also include never-before-published photos of the actors, as well as maps detailing their routes and adventures together.

The synopsis hints that it will cover their time in their faithful camper van and feature their journey on boats, kayaks, bicycles, and motorbikes, as the two "explore a land of raw beauty, poetry, feuding, music, history, and warfare".

Heughan also revealed at a New York Comic Con Virtual event that the book includes a lot about his childhood, growing up in Scotland and rediscovering his love for Scotland when he got Outlander.

And that's not the only bit of good news for fans of the hit show.

On Friday we revealed Sam has confirmed that the team are gearing up to begin filming season six.

Appearing on Live with Kelly and Ryan, the star answered some questions about the up and coming installment.

Ryan Seacrest quizzed the actor about filming schedules after covid delayed original plans.

Sam said: "Obviously with covid, things have been delayed, but we are definitely gearing up."

Adding that he had already been in for costume fittings, he said: "We are going to have to adapt, we are going to have to look at a new way of working around it but we are getting there but I'm excited to get back to work."
