Outlander star Sam Heughan joins Glasgow fitness event as part of My Peak Challenge

Sam Heughan was spotted taking part at a fitness event in Glasgow on Saturday while enjoying a day off ahead of Outlander's season seven premiere later this year.

The Balmaclellan-born actor made his way to Glasgow to compete in the Hyrox event at the OVO Hydro. The event challenges participants to do a 1km run, followed by one functional workout, which is then repeated eight times.

Sam, 42, is best known for his role as Jamie Fraser in the historical fantasy series which will return for it's seventh and longest season ever later this year. The Scots actor took part in the intense fitness event alongside Outlander co-star Nicolas Rasenti and shared a video of the two doing burpees, weighted lunges, running, and more.

Sharing a video from the event, Sam wrote: "Mini @mypeakchallenge for myself, competing at Hyrox Glasgow event!

"Thanks to my team mate @nicrasenti , we smashed it @ 1hr (top 100!?) and managed to beat @valbo00 (but let’s not say by how much!)"

Sam took on the competition as part of his My Peak Challenge (MPC) - a movement "dedicated to educating and inspiring its members to live healthier, happier, and more balanced lives while raising funds to change lives".

The initiative started in 2015 when Sam "challenged his fans to challenge themselves while raising funds for charity," as stated on the MPC website before officially launching the organisation two years later.

Last year, Sam raised whopping £590,000 for charity with the help of his organisation MPC, which he founded in 2017. Fellow members - known as Peakers - set themselves a challenge, physical or otherwise, in a bid to raise cash.

Since the organisation began, they have raised around $6.9m (£5.8m) for a number of good causes including, Give Blood UK, Ocean Conservancy, Marie Curie, and many more. In 2022, Peakers raised over $711k (£592k) and planted 607,000 trees.
