Sam Heughan has praised the 'incredible' Celine Dion as she makes her acting debut in his upcoming rom-com Text For You.
The 41-year-old Scots actor is best known for playing Highland warrior Jamie Fraser in the Outlander series, alongside Caitriona Balfe as his on-screen wife Claire Fraser.
Sam, originally from Dumfries, is set to star alongside Bollywood legend Priyanka Chopra, who recently welcomed a baby via surrogate with husband Nick Jonas.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Heughan was asked about working with Dion: “It’s her acting debut, what an icon.
“She’s incredible, but she’s not only in the movie and she’s really good and extremely funny, but she’s also supplying the music for the movie.
“She’s written a song especially for us.”
He was asked by a viewer what the “kookiest” thing she did on set was, but couldn’t think of anything.
Andy Cohen chimes in: "She is a kook, but in the best way."
Brooke Shields also agrees, saying: "She's a good mom and she is a good human being."
Heughan insisted, “She was amazing, honestly.”
Sam gushes about the upcoming rom-com: "I can't wait for you guys to see it. She's brilliant and the music is spectacular."
Heughan’s comments about Dion come after he spoke to ET Canada’s Carlos Bustamante last June about the pair’s upcoming flick.
“I’m so excited about this movie!” he gushed. “It’s a romantic comedy. It’s with Priyanka Chopra, who is… I’m such in awe of her. She’s so beautiful. She’s so wonderful. She’s such a good human being.”
He added: “Celine Dion, who obviously, you know, is the queen of Canada, really, isn’t she? I mean, she’s incredible.”
Text for You is based on the 2016 German film SMS Fur Dich, which was based on the 2009 German novel of the same name by Sofie Cramer.
The book has recently just been translated into English and will be available on Feb. 8, 2022, so audiences can read it ahead of the movie’s premiere later this year.
So far, there is no official trailer for Text For You and the official release date is yet to be announced, but Sam told Andy Cohen fans can expect the flick this year.
