Outlander star Caitriona Balfe teases her new Scottish gin on Twitter

Outlander star Caitriona Balfe has teased her new Scottish gin on Twitter with a clip of her trying the new drink on her official account.

The Irish actress is following in the footsteps of her co-star Sam Heughan by creating her very own spirit.

Dubbed Forget-Me-Not Gin, Caitriona, who plays time traveller Claire in the hit TV show, posted a short vid of her enjoying a G & T in the sun with her cat Eddie - while the bottle for the new gin can be glimpsed in the foreground.

She wrote: "Drinking to remember....... #SupportTheArts #ForgetMeNot #ScottishGin"

She'd previously posted about the new gin back in March, writing: “It’s all about to be gin.”

A second tweet then referred to the reported £400 million cuts to arts spending in the UK, prompting speculation that the gin could be being produced in a bid to raise funds for the sector.

Well, it seems like the new product that is sure to be loved by both Outlander and gin fans, is finally ready to launch, with the bottle and label already designed.

No further details have been released as of yet, though judging by the clues in the clip, it's likely to feature orange as well as the forget-me-not flowers in its ingredients list.

Fans flocked to Twitter to congratulate her on the news, with one fan writing that they "can't wait to try it".

Another added: "Who could resist a gin that you & Eddie Balfe endorse."

While the team behind the popular Loch Ness Gin posted: "Welcome to the Scottish Gin clan."

The news comes as Outlander star Sam Heughan has revealed that UK fans will soon be able to get their hands on his new whisky.

A limited run of his Sassenach  Whisky, which launched earlier this year after making its debut on the  The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, sold out quickly in the US.

However, the star has revealed that a  second run  is on its way for the US, with the UK finally given its own release date.
