Outlander star Caitriona Balfe talks about her Glasgow home and love of the city

Outlander star Caitriona Balfe has spoken about her Glasgow home and love for the city's history.

The actor also revealed she had a tiny role in the opening credits of Devil Wears Prada during the latest publicity round for her new film Belfast.

Caitriona is starring in Kenneth Brannagh film 'Belfast' as Ma, the matriarch of a pacifist Protestant family in late ’60s Belfast.

She talked to the Wall Street Journal about her life in Scotland as she and her family move between Glasgow and London.

She said: "Today, my husband, Tony, and I and our son are slightly nomadic.

"We split our time between Glasgow and London. When I’m working on Outlander, we're in Glasgow."

She added: "There's something beautiful about historic buildings. At home in Scotland, I often find myself wondering about the lives of people who lived there before us."

Caitriona, who is touted for an Academy Award this year, also paid tribute to the Outlander fans who love her character Claire Beauchamp Randall Fraser.

She laughed: "I sometimes feel like I have a gang of stage moms who are heckling in a very lovely way from the sidelines.

"It's a very strange thing but a very lovely thing. It's really endearing, and they are the loveliest people."

And she revealed to USA Today that her feet were more famous than her face when she had a role in Devil Wears Prada, dashing through the New York streets.

She said: "It's the opening scene where everybody's walking in front of the (Runway magazine) building, which is when I think my feet might be in it.

"I saw Meryl, but we weren't hanging (on set). I don't think we were allowed to get too close."
