Outlander's Sam Heughan tells GMA of moment he found out he was Jamie Fraser

Outlander star Sam Heughan has recalled the moment he found out he got the part of Jamie Fraser.

The Scots actor appeared on Good Morning America today to talk about all things season six which will air in the next few months.

While chatting away to the show's presenter about the upcoming season, she went on to ask Sam about the moment he got the call from producers telling him he got the role.

She said: "Let's do a little time travelling of our own, way back in the early 2010s, how did you first find out that you'd landed the role on Outlander?"

Sam replied: "Oh God, yeah well I was.. well it was a long time ago now - almost eight years!

"Yeah, when I first found out I was in a grocery store in London and I had a whole bag of groceries - and my agent called me and said that I had finally got the job.

"I dropped the groceries and I was screaming at the top of my voice, and I think I probably swore a lot as well.

"But being a good Scotsman I went and met all my friends and we went and celebrated for a couple of days I think, it was a lot of fun!"

The show has been successfully running for five series so far and with two in the pipeline, fans can't wait for 'Droughtlander' to be over.

In November, bosses finally revealed a release date for the latest series that will see the cast continue on their adventures.

The new season of Outlander is set to air in March next year.

The first episode with debut on the March 6 at 9pm across all Starz platforms.

Unfortunately, there will be fewer episodes than usual in the next season.

Due to filming delays caused by the pandemic, season six will consist of only eight episodes instead of the usual 12 or 13 episodes.

However, there is some good news.
