Outlander's Sam Heughan jokes he's 'lost his shirt again' after topless pics appear in new app game

Sam Heughan shared a joke with fans on Twitter about appearing topless in Outlander after they tweeted out pictures of a new game based on the hit TV show.

The puzzle game, which is being created by Spanish developer Genera Games under licence by Sony, follows the story of the books and TV show and is already proving a hit with those fans lucky enough to have downloaded the pre-release version before it was closed to new players.

Describing the game on their website, Genera wrote: "Travel back in time to the Scottish Highlands and embark on a mystical and romantic journey in Outlander, based on the award-winning television series.

"Choose your path and solve challenging puzzles to make your story a reality."

One player, @Stacey_macgowan, tagged the Scot in a tweet stating that he was looking "awfully good" in a screenshot of the game's artwork which featured his character Jamie Fraser in just a kilt.

The star then replied: "Haha looks like I lost my shirt... again."

Co-star Caitriona Balfe, who plays Jamie's love interest Claire in the show, then quipped back: "Told you Velcro was a bad idea ... but would you listen to me?"

Steven Cree, who plays Ian Murray in the Starz show, joined in the good natured ribbing of Sam by adding: "Your arms have never been that big!"

Speaking about the beta version of the game, @MissyChapman17 wrote: "Whoever created the artwork for this was point on! SUPERB!"

While others fans who managed to download the preview added that they "loved it" and were already "hooked".

Most though, were upset to discover that the beta version of the game is now full for test players, meaning that they'll have to wait for the finished product.

Thankfully, Genera Games have confirmed that a complete version of the game featuring more content, characters, and stories is due out later in the year.

Dumfries born Sam recently topped a fans’ poll on who should become the next James Bond.

Beating out the likes of Tom Hardy, Idris Elba and Henry Cavill, the Outlander star received nearly 40% of the vote.

The result followed the Scots actor revealing on This Morning that he unsuccessfully auditioned for the role 15 years ago before Daniel Craig went on to become the sixth actor to play the famous spy.

When asked if he'd love the role, Sam joked: "Who doesn't want to see another Scottish James Bond?"

Fans will be able to see him next in 'Men in Kilts: A  Roadtrip  with Sam and Graham', a new travel show with Outlander co-star Graham McTavish, when it lands on TV later this year.
