Outlander's Sam Heughan delights fans with behind-the-scenes tour of Jamie Fraser's house

Sam Heughan has delighted fans after giving them a behind-the-scenes look at the Outlander set.

The 42-year-old, who is best known for his role as Jamie Fraser, took fans on a video tour around the set of the Big House. Sam noted there are different versions that the show uses depending on where they are.

This is the house that is used for interiors, which is a much more stable environment for all of them that can be utilised within the show’s studio in Scotland. The Scots actor has recently confirmed the show has reached a huge filming milestone, and is now half way through filming the seventh season.

Now as a treat for fans, Sam has given his own behind-the-scenes access for fans to get a glimpse at the Cumbernauld based film set. Speaking to the camera, Sam says: "Hello, I know it looks like I am outside but we are here in the studio, on the stage at Wardpark studios.

"This is the interior of the Big House, isn't it fantastic? One of Jamie Frasers many houses that he's built. When we shoot our interiors, this is where we go in the studios. Let me show you, come away into Jamie Frasers Big House."

Standing in the hallway, pointing to the rug Sam continues: "If you lift the rug there's no trap door. That was all faked."

"Now, these stairs are one of my favourites. I love running up and down them, they are very steep and they don't go anywhere. When you get to the top, let me show you, they don't actually go anywhere. But it's a great location, I love the craftsmanship that they've built here."

Returning back down the stairs, Sam enters another room to show off to fans. He says: "Come in here to the dining room, this is where we have many meals. Brianna introduced us to her new invention the matches, which really wasn't a good idea as we all know the fate is that Jamie and Claire will die in a fire in the great house. So I'm not quite sure what his daughter is up too, but as you can see it's a really beautiful set."

"Come in here, it's another one of my favourite rooms," he continues, taking fans into the living room. "I love the colour. This is the sitting room. It was shot to pieces as you can see from the stand-off with the Browns. Lots of gunshots in the wall."

"If you come through the side door here, we are in the breezeway. Which, on the real location is very, very breezy. As you can see we are now in the studio, and it's not. It's actually pretty hot. But I love all the wee props we have here."

He continues: "Now coming through here, you will remember the kitchen. It's a really beautiful location. You can almost smell all of the cooking ingredients here, and you have the fire burning here which isn't a real fire, it's gas. This is where Roger invited Mr Christie to come and stay, which obviously started the decay of Frasers Ridge.

"Through these double doors is somewhere I'm not usually allowed to go without herself, Claire, Miss Balfe, but here we are. Here's the surgery." Pointing to the bed, he adds: "Where Jamie has recovered from the snake bite in past seasons, where Claire has created penicillin and where she has been using ether."

Finishing up, Sam says: "So there we have it, the Big House set. It's an amazing piece of scenery and I really love all the work they've done."

Outlander seasons 1-6 are available to stream on STARZPLAY in the UK.
