Outlander 's Sam Heughan will star alongside fellow Scots actor Ewan McGregor in new movie 'Everest'.
The film will be directed by Doug Liman and the story is based on the Jeffrey Archer novel 'Paths of Glory'.
The story is set 1921 and follows the true story of English mountaineer George Mallory, who will be played by McGregor, who was selected by the Royal Geographic Society to scale the previously unconquerable Mount Everest.
Heughan will play and Mallory's rival, Australian mountaineer, George Finch.
Filming is set to commence in January 22 in the UK and Italy.
Taking to his Instagram, the Outlander actor revealed his exciting news, saying it was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
He wrote: "What an adventure! Once in a lifetime… Excited to finally be able to reveal this exceptional project with an incredible group of explorers and storytellers… Get ready to summmit!"

And fans were quick to congratulate the 41-year-old on his new movie.
One said: "Holy moly Sam! This is amazing - congrats!"

In a previous interview, Heughan said it was on hit bucket list to climb Mount Everest and it looks like the movie might just give him the chance to achieve his dreams.
