Outlander fans have been left divided after it was revealed the opening theme song has been changed.
Earlier this week it was revealed the show will be returning to our screens in March and to celebrate, the official STARZ Instagram unveiled the new opening credits for the upcoming season.
Every season 'The Skye Boat Song' changes slightly, but this time the lyrics are 'sing me a song of a lad that is gone' instead of 'sing me a song of a lass that is gone'.
Posting the clip on Instagram, they wrote: " Season 6 Opening Credits. #Outlander is so lucky to have amazing fans that champion it at every turn.

"As a thanks to you all this Thanksgiving, enjoy the brand new opening credits for Season 6 featuring the incredible work of @bearmccreary, @rayazyarbrough, and @griogairmusic."
The new version has also got fans worried there may be something in store for one of the characters the episodes to come.
The opening of the season six version is mainly voiced by a man and the original version is a woman.
One worried person said: "WHICH LAD? WHAT KIND OF F***ERY IS THIS NOW."
Another wrote: "Not fan of this version, loved the harmonies at the crescendo....I know it is meant to change as the story evolves."
While one posted: "No joke! That is the best outlander opening credit So far! Oh my- it just IS & shows a breath of snow & ashes! All the emotions!
"You did an incredible job in that! And I’m thrilled Cait & Sam are producers once again!"
As a third commented: "OMG I‘ve goosebumps all over my body Can’t wait."
And a fourth said: "What the hell? Whose idea was that man's voice good in this song?"
Lovers of the hit TV show will want to mark Sunday, March 6, 2022, on their calendars when the extended first episode of season six will be shown across all Starz streaming platforms, including those in the UK.
