Outlander's Caitronia Balfe asks Sam Heughan for apology after he misjudges rugby score

Outlander's Caitronia Balfe has asked Sam Heughan to apologise to her after he misjudged the latest Scotland and Ireland rugby score.

Caitriona, who plays Claire Fraser, has been nicknamed Sassenach by Sam Heughan's character Jamie Fraser in the Starz award winning time travelling drama.

The Irish born actress, who has been receiving plaudits for her role in Kenneth Branagh's Belfast, had received a message from Sam ahead of Scotland's Six Nations rugby match against Ireland on Saturday.

Scots born Sam had written on Twitter: "Good luck today @caitrionambalfe , in advance, sorry for your loss against @Scotlandteam."

Unfortunately it looked like his confidence jinxed the game as the final score was 26-5 to Ireland.

Caitriona decided to call Sam on his rude Tweet saying: "Sammy says what..??????? #irelandvscotland @IrishRugby

She later added: "I’ll take a six pack of @GuinnessIreland and some salt and vinegar @Tayto as an apology!!!!!"

Sam Offered her a bottle of his own brand Sassenach spirits as an apology instead.
