Jobs are set to be lost at one of Newcastle's biggest shops after Sir Philip Green's Arcadia Group announced plans to close its Outfit store.
The shop in Northumberland Street only opened in 2017, taking over the BHS store which itself shut when that company ran into difficulties and went out of business.
The closure of the Outfit shop - which brings together a number of Arcadia brands, including Topman, Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Burton, Wallis and Dorothy Perkins - is one of 23 closures around the country announced as part of cost saving measures.
Arcadia Group is the latest retail firm to suffer from the slump on the High Street which has claimed high profile victims such as Toys'R'Us and Maplins, while the department store chains House of Fraser and Debenhams have gone into administration.
A combination of factors, including rising wage costs, business rates, plus a switch to online shopping have been blamed for the crisis in the retail sector.
As well as closing 23 stores, with the loss of 520 jobs, Arcadia is looking to reduce rents at almost 200 of its remaining sites around the country.
