Outdoor food and drink market in Liverpool city centre this weekend

An outdoor food and drink market is taking place in Liverpool city centre this weekend.

From today, people can tuck into tasty food and takeaway drinks at the food market which is being held in Exchange Flags, behind Liverpool Town Hall.

The Open Air Foodie Pop Up launched in Exchange Flags last weekend and is returning today with stalls selling treats including ice cream, hot dogs, noodles, halloumi fries, coffee and beer.

With the lockdown leaving many in the hospitality industry struggling to work, the pop ups are a welcome chance for vendors to serve customers again in a safe way.

This weekend's market and those that follow will be in place from Thursday until Sunday, from 12pm until 7pm each day.

Drinking is not permitted on site, but beer being served is available for takeaway.

Traders include Just Gyros, Bean Coffee and Hyacinth Ice Cream.

Exchange Flags announced the pop up earlier this month, tweeting: “We’re BACK with a series of safe, socially-distanced foodie pop-ups in the stunning setting of our square!"

At present, there is no formal seating at the event, meaning people can grab their food and enjoy elsewhere in the city.
