Indian police have arrested three men and are seeking four more over the alleged gang rape of a Brazilian-Spanish tourist.
The 28-year-old woman and her husband had stopped in the district of Dumki, in the eastern state of Jharkhand when the alleged attack took place.
The identity of the arrested men, who are also accused of beating the couple, has not been released.
In a now-deleted video about the incident, the woman said: “Seven men raped me. They have beaten us and robbed us, although not many things because what they wanted was to rape me.”
Her husband added in a separate video: “They have hit me with the helmet several times, with a stone on the head. Thank goodness she was wearing the jacket and that stops the blows a little."
The couple said they had camped out near the site where they were attacked because they could not find hotels nearby.
Pitamber Singh Kherwar, superintendent of local police, said the couple were founbd round 11pm local time (5.30pm GMT) on Friday on a roadside, looking like they had suffered a beating.
He said two people told authorities "their modesty had been outraged", in an incident involving seven men.
The Spanish Foreign Ministry said on Sunday it was sending staff to the area and had been in touch with authorities.
Its Brazilian counterpart said it had sought contact with the Brazilian citizen through its embassy in New Delhi and was available to give every assistance applicable.
Mr Kherwar said on Saturday one of the people detained had given the authorities names of other people involved. He added that a forensic science laboratory was helping in the case.
Conversations around sexual violence became more prominent in India after the 2012 gang rape and murder of a young woman on a bus in Delhi sparked huge protests.
However, activists say there more still needs to be done with tens of thousands of rapes reported every year.
