Residents across the Northern Territory are celebrating days of heavy rainfall, with more forecast for the week ahead.

The wet weather is a welcome relief for many after the Territory's third-warmest October on record.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued severe thunderstorm warnings throughout the week, as some stations recorded their highest daily November rainfall on record.

Up to 50 millimetres is forecast across most of the Territory over the coming week.

Curtain Springs Station, 100 kilometres east of Uluru, received more than 50mm of rain this week — more than twice its average November total.

"It's been perfect rainfall for us, not only in the amount but how it's fallen," the station's Lindy Severin said.

"We could not have asked for it to be any better."

From the Lasseter district to the Barkly Tablelands and western Top End, rainfall was widespread across the Territory.

Hugh Dawson from Beetaloo Station in the Barkly said the property recorded more than 50mm.

"I think those early showers are certainly very promising for us," Mr Dawson said.

"Hopefully it keeps coming. It'd be great to see this keep building into a good, normal wet season."

While it is welcome relief to many, the rain can cause delays for mango farms.

Mango growers avoid picking during wet weather to prevent the spread of fungal diseases that can cause fruit to spoil.

"After 25mm of rain, we pull up — there's a threat of the mangoes contracting anthracnose, which is a fungal disease," Nutrano packing shed manager Paul Cox said.

"So we let the trees dry out for 24 hours and then we start picking and packing again."

Mr Cox said they had two days off over the past few weeks.

"And there's more [rain] expected next week too, so potentially we could have another couple of days off."
