Laurent Koscielny has caused controversy this week by refusing to partake in Arsenal's pre-season tour of the USA and this has led to reaction aplenty.
The defender has asked for a transfer away from Arsenal amid Bordeaux's interest in the 33-year-old.
Arsenal, however, have rejected that request, a decision which led to Koscielny refusing to travel to the US.
Koscielny has been defended by former team-mate and Chelsea star Olivier Giroud but some of the reaction from key pundits has not been so kind.
Former Manchester City defender Danny Mills has been particularly critical, with the ex-England international opening up on the issue in an interview with Football Insider.
“You can’t refuse to go on tour, you’ve then got to expect to be fined. You’re letting the club down, letting yourself down, it’s a very strange situation. It doesn’t look good for the club," Mills explained.
“Clearly something has happened where he feels he needs to make a big stance. If something’s been agreed, why would he refuse to go on tour? You have to work with people in that situation. You don’t turn around and say I’m not doing this, I’m not doing that. You rub the fans up the wrong way, rub the club up the wrong way.
“I just wonder if something else has happened that we don’t know about, that he’s been promised something and then that promise has been taken away.”
Meanwhile, former Sunderland star Michael Gray also criticised Koscielny during an appearance on talkSPORT.
"You have to respect the contract that you are under," Gray said. "He still could have had those conversations he wanted to have whilst he was on tour. He is out of order in not going."
