BHOPAL: While urban areas of the state are facing frequent tripping leading to power cuts for small intervals, rural areas are worst hit. And the situation remains the same in rural areas of the entire state. Residents are facing double whammy as their lives are getting miserable and the power cut is also affecting livelihoods.
"In our area the household light is facing frequent power cuts, but it gets restored sooner, though there is a power cut almost every hour. But the major problem is related to agricultural electricity supply. As against the chief minister for 10 hours supply, we are hardly getting 5 hours. I had cultivated moong on 5 acres of land, the crop is nearly damaged due to inadequate water", Arun Sharma, resident of Samnapur village under Kareli tehsil of Narsinghpur district told TOI.
And it is not the issue of Arun Sharma, be it eastern, western or central parts of the state, power cuts have taken the sheen out of the lives of residents.
"The worst part is we are also not getting adequate power for irrigation, as against the government's promise of 10 hours irrigation supply, we are hardly getting five hours. Personally, I have cultivated moong on four acres and sugarcane on eight acres. Though luckily, I was late in cultivation the crops are still surviving till now I am trying my best to distribute water between both my crops someday I cover some moong on other day I cover sugarcane. But crops of some fellow villagers are severly damaged," Lal Singh, resident of Chauras village in Raisen district told TOI.
