CELTIC are considering a move for Aberdeen’s out-of-contract goalkeeper Ross Doohan.
Entering the final 12 months of his Parkhead contract current third choice Scott Bain could go in search of first team football after the Scottish Cup Final and Doohan features on a list of potential replacements.
Obliged to name eight homegrown Scots in their Champions League squad under UEFA regulations, four of the players must stem from a club’s own youth system. A graduate of Celtic’s Lennoxtown academy Doohan spent seven years at the champions between 2015 and 2022 and, after 18 first team appearances for Jimmy Thelin’s side this season, ticks the boxes.

Doohan’s Pittodrie deal is due to expire in the summer with Thelin on record as saying that the contract talks are ongoing. Herald Sport understands, however, that Aberdeen are working on signing at least one keeper this summer, with third pick Tom Ritchie also set to depart the club. Ironically, Doohan’s final game for the club could come against Celtic in the Scottish Cup Final Hampden on May 24.
