
People walk in the rain in an area crowded with restaurants and pubs in Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo, at about 8:15 p.m. on Monday, a day after the state of emergency was lifted for Tokyo and three neighboring prefectures. After the emergency was lifted, the request that restaurants and bars close by 8 p.m. was slightly relaxed to 9 p.m. Therefore, signs were lit up and people appeared to be choosing places to eat even after 8 p.m. in the nightlife district near Shinjuku Station.
