Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele was sent off for allegedly calling the referee "very bad" during his side's 4-0 victory over Sevilla.
Goals from Luis Suarez, Arturo Vidal, Dembele and Lionel Messi made it a comfortable evening for Barca, but there was controversy during the closing stages when they had two men sent off.
First debutant Ronald Araujo was given his marching orders when he brought down Javier Hernandez and was adjudged to be the last man.
Then, amazingly, Dembele was sent off in the aftermath for what the referee deemed as excessively protesting the decision.
While it made little difference to the result, it means Dembele will now be suspended, but his manager Ernesto Valverde joked that the 22-year-old can't have said much due to his limited Spanish.
Journalist Rik Sharma tweeted after the game saying: "Movistar say Dembele told referee Mateu Lahoz 'you're very bad', which earned him a straight red. Valverde said: 'it's hard to get words out of Dembele in Spanish so it can't have been a long phrase!'"
The win is Barcelona's fourth in a row and sees them climb to second in the table, just two points behind rivals Real Madrid .
Initially there had been pressure on Valverde after a poor start to the season, which saw them drop points to the likes of Athletic Bilbao and Osasuna.
Since then they have improved, however, and look like they will challenge Madrid as they look to win their third La Liga title in a row.
After the international break they travel to Eibar on October 19 before two crucial games against Slavia Prague in the Champions League and then a huge El Clasico derby against Real Madrid at the Nou Camp.
