Ousmane Dembele meeting ignored as Arsenal 'receive loan approach' from Jose Mourinho

Arsenal are venturing into the January transfer market with plenty of work to do, as Mikel Arteta looks to guide the club back into the top four and the Champions League.

With a number of players currently set to represent their nations at the Africa Cup of Nations, the squad has some depth issues for the month ahead.

On top of that, there's a number of players who could be on their way out - which will free-up funds for further activity to be made.

As a result, there's plenty of rumours floating around surrounding the Gunners regarding both incoming and outgoing pieces of business.

One player who remains heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium is Ousmane Dembele, who is at a contract impasse with Barcelona.

AS states the Catalan side have chosen to ignore a meeting with the France international to discuss an agreement, despite the fact the former Borussia Dortmund star is currently free to discuss a pre-contractual agreement with clubs outside of Spain.

Barcelona have already presented an offer to Dembele but are waiting to see whether he will accept their proposal or push for an exit.

Elsewhere, Philippe Coutinho has informed Barcelona of his desire to leave amid continued transfer speculation linking him with Arsenal, Sport states.

The 29-year-old is reported to have already received offers this month and is linked with a wealth of Premier League sides, including Tottenham and Newcastle United.

Finally, The Athletic reports Jose Mourinho's Roma have made an approach to loan Ainsley Maitland-Niles until the end of the season and a deal includes an option to buy in the summer.

The Hale End academy graduate has struggled for game time this season and expressed his frustration in the summer transfer window after seeing the club reject an offer from Everton.
