Ousmane Dembele breaks silence on Barcelona future amid Liverpool transfer rumours

Reported Liverpool transfer target Ousmane Dembele is remaining calm over his future amid rumours he could leave Barcelona.

The France international has been frequently linked with a move to Anfield, and the more recent pieces of gossip saying that he could make the switch to Merseyside have been doing the rounds in recent weeks.

Manchester United targeted the Frenchman in last summer's transfer window but talks over a loan deal collapsed with the winger staying put. European giants Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain have also been named as potential suitors.

Dembele is in his fourth season at the Nou Camp after leaving Borussia Dortmund in an initial fee of £96.8m but that could have risen to as much as £135.5m with add-ons.

Barca negotiated a £369.6m release clause in Dembele’s contract when he signed in 2017, and the 23-year-old is yet to really put a stamp on his place in the team since arriving.

The forward’s contract is due to expire next summer in 2022, and there are no signs yet that an extension is on the cards.

Despite a seemingly uncertain future, Dembele is calm about the situation despite admitting that there have been no talks about extending his stay at the Nou Camp.

“I still have one year left on my contract,” he told beIN Sports, cited via Football Italia.

“There have been no talks with the new board yet, but I’m happy and feel good.

“I don’t know the new president, but he is very close to the players. We’ll see how it goes. I have been feeling good since I got back.”
