Ourimbah man charged after crash kills one teen, injures four

A man has been charged following a crash in which a teenager died on the Central Coast at the weekend.

About 4.30am, Saturday, emergency services responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash on Washington Avenue, Niagara Park, and found four teenage boys seriously injured.

One, aged 17, died at the scene.

A 17-year-old youth from Terrigal remains in Royal North Shore Hospital, while an 18-year-old man from Wyoming, is in John Hunter Hospital.

A 17-year-old youth, from Ourimbah, is being treated in Gosford Hospital.

Police have been told all are now in a stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

The alleged driver, an 18-year-old man, was arrested and placed under police guard by officers attached to Brisbane Water Police District, after being admitted to Gosford Hospital on Saturday.

On his release from hospital on Sunday night, he was taken to Woy Woy Police Station where he has now been charged by officers from the Crash Investigation Unit with five offences: dangerous driving occasioning death - drive manner dangerous; dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm - drive manner dangerous; negligent driving (occasioning death); negligent driving (occasioning grievous bodily harm), and P1 driver - less than 25 - drive at night with more than one passenger less than 21 years.

The Ourimbah man has been refused bail to appear in Gosford Local Court on Monday.
