Our Yorkshire Farm's Amanda Owen leaves family show for new role away from Channel 5

Yorkshire shepherdess Amanda Owen is taking her first steps away from the family as she flies solo for a new TV series.

The star of Channel 5's hit series Our Yorkshire Farm, has decided to step out on her own for a new walking series on the BBC.

Fans of Amanda will be pleased that there will be another helping of the shepherdess, as she takes on some Winter Walks for Auntie Beeb.

Amanda, 47, who shares nine children with husband Clive, 67, will be hiking from Bainbridge and Semer Water for the BBC4 series, with the episode airing on November 29.

The shepherdess will offer insights into the area and the countryside as she explores the fells between the two locations.

Amanda admitted that it was strange filming the show without her family there as well.

She said: “It feels just a bit strange because I’m on my own. There’s nobody nipping at my heels, there’s nobody asking questions.

"That’s not to say that I don’t like being out and about with the family and the children – of course that’s great – but the old analogy, a dog being like its owner, is true.

"Because sheep dogs can’t switch off. They just want to work, their minds are buzzing. That’s how I feel.

“So many different things coming at you from so many directions. A bit of headspace is good for everyone.”

Instead of her family starring with her, this BBC series will see Alastair Campbell, Kate Bottley, and Nihal Arthanayake also featuring.

Amanda said that it was an "adventure" being involved, saying: "As a shepherd and a hill farmer you do not set out on a walk for no reason – so this is a bit of an adventure, really.”

Winter Walks will premiere on November 29 at 7.30pm on BBC 4.
