Our Yorkshire Farm's Amanda Owen hunts supermarket bargains despite earning £250k

Amanda Owen might be pulling in £250,000 a year these days, but she's admitted she's often struggled to make ends meet.

The Our Yorkshire Farm star still hunts down supermarket bargains and buys in bulk to avoid racking up a huge weekly bill to feed their nine kids.

Sexy shepherdess Amanda has turned her life on a remote farm in the Yorkshire Dales into a lucrative business, but that doesn't mean she's going to go wild while shopping.

The Sun reports that Amanda lives miles away from the nearest shop and therefore buys in bulk and picks up bargains to feed her family for just £130 a week.

Amanda, whose show is currently airing on Channel 5, has released five books since 2015 and has released calendars to pull in the dough.

But she also saves cash by having free water channelled from the stream on the moor, and by heating the house with a roaring fire which burns every day, no matter what the weather forecast is saying.

The farm's utility bills set the family back a bit, costing a whopping £160 a month, and Amanda has said the family relies heavily on tourism to make their money.

But of course, that income was slashed during the pandemic as lockdown prevented anyone from visiting.

She said: "It is a funny one that people don’t realise. People say 'how do you make your money? Do you make your money from wool?' No, it's literally worthless.

"We have to shear the sheep purely for the fact that they need shearing.

"They’ve been domesticated for thousands of years, the wool needs to come off so we shear the sheep. But we, you know, get £200 maybe."

Meanwhile, it's been reported that Our Yorkshire Farm could go off air as Amanda and Clive battle to save their marriage.

Amid reports that Amanda has moved out of the family property and into a nearby rental property, there have been concerns that the show could stop airing.

Amanda hasn't directly addressed her family troubles, but hinted that they're on her mind.

She tweeted this week: "It’s Choose day. Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family."

It's thought that her tweet was designed to highlight the latest episode of the series was soon to air, as she added: "Choose #OurYorkshireFarm @channel5_tv 9pm."

Amanda and Clive are parents to Raven, 20, Reuben, 17, Miles, 15, Edith, 12, Violet, ten, Sidney, nine, Annas, seven, Clemmie, five, and Nancy, four.
