Our Yorkshire Farm’s Amanda Owen concerned as family home threatened by flood

Amanda Owen has shared her concerns as Ravenseat Farm was threatened by rising flood water as well as being battered by high winds.

The 46-year-old star of Channel 5 docuseries, Our Yorkshire Farm, spoke about her fears that their family home could feel the force of a wild storm that had whipped the nearby river into a raging torrent.

The Yorkshire shepherdess also revealed that the storm had damaged vital pieces of faming equipment, which were essential in keeping their operation functioning to its best ability.

Amanda, who shares nine children with husband Clive, 66, spoke about the tense times they faced as the nearby river threatened to burst its banks just yards from their house.

Speaking in a recent episode of the show, Amanda said: "At this time of year, you expect it to be cold, snowy, frozen, icy and you can deal with that.

"But water you just cannot. The ground is absolutely saturated, so the river levels just come up and down so quickly.

"You get extreme weather conditions, that is what happens here."

Amanda was concerned as the area was subjected to one month's rain in one night which led to some places being flooded and excess water running towards the river located by the farm house, which was already up to its limit.

Standing beside the flood water, Amanda described how they fought the conditions brought by Storm Ciara.

Amanda said: "What a day. Unbelievable.

"The power in that water. It’s not even safe to be out here really."

To add to the concerns shared by the family, Amanda's husband Clive and their eldest son Reuben had to go on a rescue mission as the weather threatened their flock of sheep.

With winds topping 100mph, the pair braved the elements to head out to their sheep and lead them to a safer place as the weather threatened their existence.

Once the animals were secured and given enough food to see them through the extreme weather, there were more problems for the Owens to overcome.

The storm hadn't finished with them quite yet and the flood water was seen racing through the farm's yard, taking their one-tonne trailer with it.

Once the storm had blown over, Reuben was seen being joined by a local farmer as they retrieved the washed away trailer from a ditch.
