Terry McLaurin is Washington’s only hope.
Through four winless games, the third-round rookie receiver has been the only signs of life for the Redskins, giving the fan base a boost of energy while making electric plays on the field, both as a dynamic deep threat and a reliable possession receiver.
So far though this season, McLaurin ranks above all of the other receivers in his rookie class accoding to PFF, and he currently sits as the No. 18 WR in fantasy football. It may be a bit too early, but do we dare mention the letters R-O-Y?
While McLaurin is stacked up against an impressive field for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award, he undoubtedly can hold his own against the competition. Just this week, Bleacher Report named him as their winner of the award, over players like Baltimore’s WR Marquise Brown, and New York’s QB Daniel Jones. Here’s why:
Few rookies have been as impressive as Terry McLaurin, a third-round pick already playing like a first-rounder. Through three games, he’s caught 16 passes for 257 yards and three touchdowns, one in each appearance.
McLaurin is also averaging 16.1 yards per catch, has moved the chains 13 times and caught four passes of 20 or more yards, all despite missing a game with a hamstring injury.
At the quarter-mark of the 2019 season, it’s important to note that there is still a lot of football to be played, and a handful of players yet to break out as they get their careers off of the ground. But for Washington fans, don’t let that deter you from getting excited about the possibility of this happening — it will likely be the only award the team is given this season.
