Our readers share their thoughts on the 10 best restaurants in Liverpool

Liverpool isn't short of great places to go for a bite to eat and naturally, public opinion on the best restaurants in the city may differ.

Whatever your favourite restaurant may be, there's no doubt that we're spoilt for choice.

Review site Trip Advisor has a top ten list of Liverpool restaurants that has been compiled through independent customer reviews, though your favourite might not be listed.

We asked our readers what they thought about Trip Advisor's ranking of our restaurants to see if they agreed - and to find out their own favourite spots:

1. La Parrilla Mexican Bar and Grill

La Parrilla on Bold Street is now the number one restaurant in Liverpool according to Trip Advisor (La Parrilla)

La Parrilla Mexican Bar and Grill on Bold Street takes the top spot in Liverpool.

The restaurant is open seven days a week and serves traditional Mexican dishes including enchiladas, fajitas and more.

It opened in 2017 after a t-shirt business, which was based in the space, shut up shop leaving owner David Thomas free to embark on a huge refurbishment to turn it into the restaurant we know today.

Referencing the full list, Lynsey Lou Byrne said: "Not been to any of those, best place I've eaten is Maray on Bold St".

2. Elif

The Turkish grill is also based on Bold Street and is always packed with people.

Caitlin Clough said: "I have never been to ANY of these" and then added: "Oh hang on, I was too emphatic, we went to Elif didn't we? This is not my list."

Claire Bryan said: "... I do love Elif though. And I miss Caesar’s palace! Xx"

3. Bistro by the Park

Based in Hale Village, the third best restaurant in Liverpool prides itself on offering a friendly yet vibrant atmosphere.

The menu ranges from breakfast, lunch, tapas and a la carte option plus traditional Sunday roast dinners which are all freshly cooked.

The bistro also serves a variety of fresh coffees, loose teas and cakes.

4. 109 Allerton

109 Allerton on Allerton Road is now under new management (handout)

Since being taken over by new management back in March, this restaurant found itself at number one on Trip Advisor just last month.

Open seven days a week, the popular venue is based on Allerton Road and though it's no longer number one, it has still secured itself as a respectable ranking restaurant in the city.

Laura Cain disagreed with Trip Advisor's list and said: "Wheeler's of St Jame's Liverpool Is The Best By Far x,"

5. Lucy in the Sky

The former number one restaurant in Liverpool has been bumped down to number five in recent months.

Based on Exchange Street East, the popular café serves a variety of sandwiches, toasties, baked potatoes and soups alongside a selection of cakes.

In response to the full round up, Martyn Biggs said: "Maggie Fu’s is definitely in the top 5".

6. Carlisi

This modern Italian restaurant and bar is based on Dale Street in the finance district of the city.

The contemporary venue specialises in authentic Italian dishes.

Louise Lowrie tagged a friend and said: "we need to start this list", to which her friend replied: "agreed"

7. Cowshed

Located just a stone's throw away from iconic club Blue Angel, Cowshed offers a variety of beef steaks to meat lovers.

The menu offers a selection of creative sides including savoy cabbage and green beans in chorizo cream, waffles with eggs and more.

For those who don't eat meat, there is a cauliflower steak on offer.

The contemporary retreat is based on Seel Street.

8. Greek Taverna Bold Street

This laid back spot provides customers with small plates and sharing platters in the heart of Bold Street.

On its website, the restaurant prides itself on offering a "friendly and humble atmosphere and being one of Liverpool's beloved restaurants!"

The menu is authentically Greek and has proved a popular choice among the hustle and bustle of the busy city centre.

9. Greekosophy

Based on Stafford Street, this is another Greek restaurant to make it into Liverpool's top ten.

After opening back in 2017, the restaurant offered authentic Greek food complete with Greek founders.

Unfortunately for fans of the restaurant on Trip Advisor, this restaurant is closing down.

10. Dostana

Based on Allerton Road, the final entry on Trip Advisor's list is this popular Indian restaurant.

The restaurant boasts a spiral staircase and exposed red brick walls while offering a wide selection of authentic Indian food.

Not all of our readers agreed with the restaurants dubbed the top ten in Liverpool.

Louise Doherty offered her own version of the list and said: "Indian- UNI, Turkish- Istanbul Woolton, Greek- Lefteris or Zorbas, pub grub- Rose of Mossley, afternoon tea- Cuthberts"
