The Live 8 concerts on Saturday kick off an enormous week of campaigning and protest, much of which will be focused on the Scottish capital, Edinburgh.
All things considered, we thought we'd better be there. So Guardian Unlimited is basing a team of journalists right in the heart of the city from Friday, to bring you unrivalled news, blog and audio coverage of what's going on.
Their brief will be not just to watch what the political leaders are saying at the Gleneagles summit, but also to listen to what the hundreds of thousands of protesters travelling to the city are saying. Why are they there? What's their message to the politicians? What do they hope to achieve?
To help us do that, we're taking over an internet cafe right in the centre of town - the Bytes and Slices cafe on Waverley Steps, next to the station. From Saturday, until next Thursday, we'll base our team there and also have around 10 terminals available, free of charge, for those of you who want to email us thoughts, comment here on Newsblog, or update your own blogs and Flickr photostreams during this remarkable week of protest. You'll have to buy your own coffee, but the internet connection's on us.
So: if you're going to Edinburgh, or the concerts, we'd love to hear your plans, and - if you're posting blog updates or pictures on your own sites - link to some of what you're doing as well. Drop us a line here, or pay us a visit at the cafe. And if you want to keep up to date with what's happening in Edinburgh and Gleneagles, keep an eye on guardian.co.uk and, of course, Newsblog.
• And if you're a blogger in the US keen to come to Edinburgh as well, this post on Dave Sifry's blog might be of interest - you've got the chance to snag a backstage pass for one of the Live8 concerts, and then get flown to Edinburgh for the week.
