EGX Rezzed 2019: Our pick of must-see games including Hamsterdam and Change

EGX Rezzed is upon us, and if you don’t know what that means it's that magical time of year when a lot of the smaller developers and indie guys and girls get together to showcase some of the latest and up and coming games.

Rezzed is known for showcasing some of the more creative and interesting games on the market.

Also, as these games are often developed by small teams, their developers are fiercely passionate as it’s far more personal for them than some of the big developers and publishers.

This means there is a diverse and eclectic mix of games that you will not have seen before and more experimental and artistic games.

You’ll notice straight away that some titles will really grab you and shake you by the eyeballs.

So, here is a short collection of games you must see. This is by no means a complete list but it’s a selection of some of the games we found interesting and eye catching so far at EGX Rezzed 2019.

Divinity Fallen Heroes

Larin Studio (Logic Artists)

Divinity Fallen Heroes was only announced last week Larin Studio returns with the follow up to their hit Divinity Original Sin 2.

Harkening back to classic RPG’s like Baldurs Gate, Planescape Torment but with an even more massive and detailed world.

Fallen Heroes seems to be a more of a tactical turn based affair focusing more on the rich combat and environmental awareness.

Hamsterdam

Hamsterdam (Muse Games)

Hamsterdam is a kung-fu rhythm based brawler, where you play as Pimm - a small but furious Hamster. Pimm is intent on cleaning up Hamsterdam from the evil chinchilla Marlo and his gang to rescue his grandfather.

Using his paws of fury he beats down his enemies with lighting fast reflexes. Hamsterdam is a rhythm based combat game with cute stylised visuals with fast passed 80’s kung-fu action.

Nintendo will launch TWO new Switch consoles this summer, report claims

Katana Zero

Katana Zero (DevolverDigital)

Katana Zero Is an ultra stylish, sword wielding 2D action platformer. With slick neon visuals and fluid gameplay and acrobatic combat are addictive and challenging.

Katana Zero features 1 hit death similar to Hotline Miami, and while this can being insanely frustrating it is massively rewarding when you are focused and execute killer combos perfectly.

Apple Arcade game subscription service launches to take on Google Stadia

Change

Change by Delve Interactive is a rogue-like survival game. You play a homeless person just trying to make it through each day and interacting with randomly generated non-playable characters.

Due to the random generation, you really develop your own story and become immersed in the struggle for survival.

Phoenix Point

Phoenix Point (Snapshot Games)

Developed by the father of tactical turn based Julian Gollop, who created X-com, comes Phoenix Point.

Phoenix Point is based in a post apocalyptic world where humanity is boarding on extinction due to “Love Craftian” monsters plaguing humanity. Customise your team and head out using your gear and tactics to beat back the terrors from the deep.

Sunless Skies

Sunless Skies (Failbetter Games)

Sunless Skies is a narrative driven game set in a steam punk horror universe. You captain a steam locomotive airship and you set out to explore the skies and horrors unknown.

The game features some fantastic writing that will take you on epic adventures and really make you feel immersed in this unpredictable and amazing world.

As I mention, this is by no means an exhausted list but these are the games that have stood out to us so far I recommend you to check them out.

EGX Rezzed runs until Sunday April 7 2019 at Tobacco Dock in East London.
