Our Liverpool: TV legend Paul to be laid to rest

Hello and welcome to Our Liverpool.

Today the funeral date for TV star, national treasure and Merseyside-native Paul O'Grady has been announced. Paul will be laid to rest later this week and fans have reportedly been invited to line the streets near his home in Kent to mourn.

A private memorial has also been planned for Port Lympne Safari Park in Kent, where Paul was a regular visitor. Closer to home, a petition to have a statue of Paul put up in his hometown of Birkenhead has reached almost 150,000 signatures, and has even been endorsed by the leader of Wirral Council.
