The weather has dominated this morning's headlines as icy conditions cause travel chaos across the region. Commuters were faced with train cancellations and holidaymakers were grounded after Manchester airport closed two of its runways following "heavy snow fall."
Despite the bad weather, nurses and ambulance workers across Merseyside are on picket lines for a second day running. ECHO photographer Iain Watts was lucky to meet one of the region's youngest picketer outside Whiston hospital today.

Boy, 15, storms out dock as he's found guilty of beating man to death
Our court reporter Adam Everett was in court today, as a 15-year-old boy was found guilty of murder. The youth - who cannot be named for legal reasons - beat Christopher Molloy to death in an early hours gang attack near to Bootle Strand. Members of the 15-year-old's family left the public gallery when the verdict was delivered, and the boy slammed a door as he stormed out of the dock. You can read the full story here.
Elle Edwards' funeral
The funeral of "beautiful and bright" Elle Edwards will be taking place next week. The 26-year-old beautician was shot dead outside the Lighthouse pub in Wallasey, Wirral, on Christmas Eve. Merseyside Police believe she was not the intended target of the attack, which also injured four men. Her funeral will take place at St Nicholas Church on January 25, and will be followed by a private service at Landican Cemetery and Crematorium, the Diocese of Chester has confirmed. Another historic day
Nurses and ambulance workers are on strike for a second day in a row today. The Royal College of Nursing's (RCN's) first strike ever took place last month, with further walk outs now confirmed for February. Our reporters Remy Greasley and Danny Rigg are out for a second day, chatting to NHS staff who are on the picket line for a second day.
A visit to Lush Liverpool for Chinese New Year
