Today we're calling on the government to stop cowardly killers from hiding in their cells from the sentencings they deserve. Last week Thomas Cashman was sentenced in his absence to 42 years in jail for the murder of Olivia Pratt-Korbel, refusing to emerge from the cell he was in to face the nine-year-old's family in court and hear the impact of his actions on them.
He robbed them of this vital part of the grieving process using a legal loophole that allows criminals to evade that crucial part of the legal process. The law must change to prevent this.

Mum-of-three Emma Brooke was in and out of hospital due to problems with her liver when she was pregnant with her baby Alfie. But when doctors were performing an ultrasound to get a better picture of the state of her liver, they discovered a 10cm tumour on her right kidney.
In September she was diagnosed with cancer. In March she was told it had spread to her spine.

Cathy Roberts' boat the France-Hayhurst sank at the start of the year after over 10 years on the city's waterfront. But now Cathy has been able to raise the historic tugboat from the depths of the Canning Dock where it sank, and said she "won't give up on her" as she begins a massive restoration project of the vessel.
Police warn parents to 'expect a visit' after group surround officers
A group of children as young as nine surrounded two PCSOs and blocked them getting to their car, before throwing sticks at them. Police said the youths behaved in an intimidating manner towards the two female officers and said the face masks worn will not be a hindrance to them identifying individuals.
