Bangarra’s triple bill pulls together Australia’s indigenous history, cultural heritage and art. Artistic director Stephen Page’s piece tells the story of North East Arnhem Land artist Nyapanyapa Yunupingu. The daughter of prominent Yolngu artist Munggurrawuy Yunupingu extricated herself from the art she inherited to create new works that focus on the everyday and the practice of making art itself.

Jasmine Sheppard’s first choreographic work, Macq, which debuted as part of Dance Clan 3 for Corroboree Sydney in 2013, will be brought to the main stage. The work explores the 1816 March of Macquarie, a historical chapter that decimated Sydney’s Aboriginal Community. Finally, New Breed choreographer Daniel Riley and and Beau Dean Riley Smith present Miyagan, a dance story that maps their cultural heritage and and family background on Wiradjuri country, New South Wales.
