‘Our hearts are broken’: Grandmother pays tribute to toddler who died in caravan fire

PA

A “heartbroken” grandmother has paid tribute to her two-year-old granddaughter who died in a fire at a caravan park in Lincolnshire.

Louisiana-Brook Broadley, of Newark, Nottinghamshire, has been named locally as the child who died at the Sealands site in Skegness on Monday.

Her mother Nathasha Broadley and three of the toddler’s siblings managed to escape the blaze.

Paying tribute to her granddaughter, Donna Broadley said she was devastated by the tragedy.

“Our hearts are broken as ‘wee wee’ was our baby of our family,” she wrote on Facebook. “Tash gave her everything, she was her right leg. Our hearts are broken.

“We as a family will be here for Tash and my grandchildren.”

Lincolnshire Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire. They said emergency services received reports of a blaze at the caravan park at around 10.30pm on Monday.

On arrival, officers found a woman and three of her children had managed to escape the fire.

The mother’s fourth child died, the force added.

The mother and three children were taken to hospital for treatment and later released.

Around 50 people were asked to leave caravans near where the fire broke out as fire crews secured the area.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and the police investigation is in its early stages.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Jo Fortune said on Tuesday: "This is a devastating incident for all involved.

“We are in the very early stages of our investigations and the circumstances which led to the fire are not yet clear.

“We will be working closely with specialist teams to understand what happened.”
