'Our gorgeous girl has gone' Mum of woman missing from Glasgow heartbroken as police scour River Clyde

The mum of a young woman who vanished after a night out in Glasgow has revealed her family has been left heartbroken as police search the River Clyde.

Lexi Carmichael, 21, disappeared after leaving the Counting House near George Square shortly after 11pm on Wednesday night and was last seen on St. Vincent Place in Glasgow at 11.05 pm.

Her mum Petula has today posted on Facebook that her 'gorgeous girl has gone' as she revealed that the family have been left devastated by Lexi's disappearnce.

Petula wrote: "Our world has fell apart ... our gorgeous girl has gone and we are devastated. No words can describe the pain we are in."

Lexi is described as 5ft11in tall, with a slim build and dark brown hair.

She was wearing a black and white top with a flower on the front, black trousers and black and white trainers when she disappeared.

Petula earlier shared an online appeal to help find her daughter.

Writing on Facebook on Friday morning, she said: "Has anyone seen my daughter Lexi Carmichael last seen at counting house back of 11 last night....Please get in touch if any information....."

Police confirmed that they are searching the river for Lexi but said they are still currently treating her as a missing person.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We can confirm that Lexi Carmichael is still a missing person and our enquiries are ongoing.

"You can pass on information by calling 101, quoting reference 3987 of 11 December."
