Our Girl viewers gutted after popular character dies - but fans have an interesting theory

Our Girl is never short of intense action - and the most recent episode certainly did not+ dissapoint.

Ciewers of the BBC drama were left 'sobbing' as after a popular character died.

The tragic episode saw medic Georgie Lane, played by Michelle Keegan, desperately try to save the life of her commerade, friend and recently-turned brother-in-law Fingers.

The 2-Section member was shot during last week's episode, when the platoon came under enemy fire in the Afghan countryside.

Viewers were gripped by the scenes as the soldiers battled to get Fingers back to the hospital.

Despite her best efforts, the emergency surgery back at base wasn't enough and Fingers didn't survive.

Some viewers were left in tears.

"FULLY SOBBING. CAN'T COPE. #OurGirl," tweeted one person.

A second said: "I will never emotionally recover from the death of Fingers #OurGirl."

"I wanna personally write a complaint. First Smurf, then elvis and now FINGERS. Can’t deal with this #OurGirl," added another.

Later in the episode, viewers saw Georgie return home for the funeral - and to be with her family - before returning to her duties.

In a scene with Colour Sergeant 'Kingy' King, Georgie opened up about Elvis - her fiancé who was killed on tour.

She told her colleague she still believes Elvis was alive when they took him away as she didn't check his pulse.

Some fans were left wondering whether that was a hint at how the current run could end.

There are many interesting theories.

"Even though I literally witnessed Elvis die on screen with my very eyes, i’m still convinced he’s somehow alive #ourgirl," said one.

Another added: "I'm sorry but until i see proof i am now gonna be confident Elvis is secretly alive and well and will be reunited with Georgie."

"My theory is: Georgie will kill Omar only to find out Elvis was still alive and his ‘death’ was part of special operation meaning only the select few knew about it with fingers being one of them. That’s why when he was dying he kept saying “I’m sorry” to Georgie. #ourgirl," concluded a third.

Will they be right?

Our Girl continues next Tuesday (April 21) at 9pm on BBC One.
