Our Girl's Michelle Keegan says 'door is open' for her to return after quitting show

Our Girl star Michelle Keegan has refused to rule out a return for Sergeant Georgie Lane after quitting the show.

Michelle, who made her name on Corrie, left the show after the most recent series, with it currently uncertain whether it will return for a fifth series.

If it does, though, Michelle might be on board for coming back.

Chatting to Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston on their Heart Radio show, Michelle was asked if the gig was really "done and dusted" for her.

"Well, you know, it might not be done and dusted," she revealed, "I've said it's going to be the last for now, but the door has been left open for Georgie.

Michelle chatted about Georgie's future (heart)

"Obviously now that it's been on screen I can officially say Georgie's not dead. The door is open for her, so who knows in the future?"

She added: "I absolutely love that show and I'm very proud of it. I'm proud to be part of it and I love playing Georgie, so next year, a few years, you never know."

Michelle continued that the onerous filming schedule was a burden she could do without.

"It takes so long.

"Four months out of the year is so long when you're away from home, and because it's on the other side of the world as well, it's filmed in South Africa, it's not easy for people to come out and visit.

"It takes its toll, it does."

The latest series of Our Girl showed heartbreaking scenes in a twist that saw Georgie's brother-in-law killed after an ambush in Afghanistan

Tune into Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden, weekdays from 6:30am – 10am.
