Our campaign for a greener future will help Scots with advice on saving the planet

Glasgow is just four months away from hosting the important climate change summit Cop26.

The eyes of the world will be on Scotland – but what will they see?

The truth is that Scotland has a mixed record of delivery on its world-leading climate change targets.

Recent figures revealed the SNP Government had again missed its target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Stats for 2019 show a 51.5% reduction against the baseline – short of the required 55%.

We have a long way to go before we achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2045.

It will be embarrassing for Scotland if we are not perceived to be making enough progress.

Government interventions will be the main driver of change in the long run but action by individuals can also make a contribution.

That is why this week in the Daily Record, we are launching our Save Our Scotland – Save Our Planet campaign.

Because this is a problem that every single one of us can help solve.

From the car we drive, to the food we eat and clothes we wear – there is so much we can do to help the environment.

Our campaign will provide tips on how Scots can make different choices in their everyday lives to help tackle the crisis.

Eating less meat, using public transport more and changing shopping habits could make a huge difference.

Many Scots feel they need advice on going green – so our campaign will tell you everything you need to know.

As the hosts for Cop26, let’s seize the opportunity to impress our guests and do our bit to save the planet.
