Otto Wallin has demanded proof of Dillian Whyte's injury after their fight has now officially been called off.
Whyte was due to face Wallin in London on October 30th and victory would have cemented his spot as the WBC's mandatory challenger, with expectations the governing body would then order a fight with Tyson Fury to take place.
However, a shoulder injury has forced Whyte to withdraw from his upcoming bout and means his long wait for a clash with Fury will be extended.
Whyte has already waited over 600 days for his title shot and that wait will only be extended following his injury and cancellation of his upcoming bout.
Wallin has wasted no time voicing his frustrations, with his promoter, Dmitry Salita, requesting medical evidence of injury from Whyte's promoter Eddie Hearn.
Salita has also revealed his "suspicion" behind the injury and is now plotting a rescheduled date.
He said: "We believe the WBC will make the right decision instead of giving Dillian Whyte a straight ahead journey to Tyson Fury.
"Dillian Whyte should not be rewarded with a fight with Tyson Fury based on having an injury, legitimate or not.
"What makes [the injury] a bit suspicious is that there's been rumours for weeks about Dillian Whyte pulling out of the fight, and he even said 'I could pull out of the fight and fight Tyson Fury next, but I'm not going to because I'm a man.'
"I had 38 professional fights, this week is just to stay sharp, shadow box, hit the bags a little bit, and be ready for fight week. So that he gets injured in such a way doesn't seem to be in line with traditional boxing practices. Even if he is legitimately injured - it's a possibility - the fight should be rescheduled at a later date."
The WBC will rule shortly as to whether Whyte can progress to a shot at Fury, or whether his fight with Wallin will be rearranged.
Whyte said of his injury: "I am devastated as I had a great camp, was in great shape, and had great sparring. I was looking forward to knocking Wallin out and would have done so in the first half of the fight.
"I am devastated about not being able to fight on October 30 but I want to thank everyone for all of their support."
