Otters spotted swimming in central Edinburgh under Dean Village bridge

There's been a rare sighting of a pair of wild otters in central Edinburgh swimming in the Water of Leith.

The pair were seen under the picturesque Dean Path bridge on on Wednesday evening by lecturer Yuri Cath.

He said the animals were frolicking by the riverbank and the water in Dean Village.

Posting a picture of them on Twitter, Yuri said: "Saw a pair of wild otters this morning in the Water of Leith, right in the heart of Edinburgh!

"Couldn't get a decent photo on my phone (they were also moving around a lot) but we got a fantastic view of them playing on the bank and in the water."

In January, a lone otter was seen enjoying a splash in the Water of Leith amid the chilly weather.

Ewan Robb grabbed a video clip of the otter on his way to work.

In March, an was pictured in West Lothian, after rumours of the white animals spread among wildlife enthusiasts.
