At the National Archive, Manit Sriwanichpoom unearthed enigmatic black-and-white photos of political prisoners in 1902, chained, beaten, and staring back at their captors' camera lens. This exhibition gives their faces and actions a due context.
The French Connection

As part of the citywide Photo Bangkok, "The French Connection" looks at the connection between French eyes and Thailand subject, from the time of Father Larnaudie who in 1845 brought the first photographic camera into Siam. The exhibition wants to go beyond the well-worn subjects (beaches, girls, temples) to something deeper and more thoughtful.
