Other Premier League trophy Liverpool could lift this season

Liverpool are in line to receive a special golden Premier League trophy if they go unbeaten during the 2019/20 campaign, according to reports.

The Reds have dominated this season as they sit at the top of the league and 25 points clear of nearest rivals Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola's men were favourites coming into the campaign after winning back to back titles but Liverpool have overwhelmed all of their rivals.

Jurgen Klopp's side have won 25 of 26 games to date and only drawn one, with that coming at Manchester United earlier this season.

It's highly likely that Liverpool end their 30-year wait for a domestic league title and now the big issue is whether they can emulate Arsenal's Invincibles of 2003/04.

MailOnline are now reporting that the Premier League have already held informal talks about how they will go about handling the situation if the Reds do pull off an unbeaten season.

It has been claimed that the Premier League are thinking about giving Liverpool a golden trophy.

Arsenal were afforded the same treatment after they lifted the title back in 2004 thanks to 26 wins and 12 draws.

Arsene Wenger ended up with the gong himself as a parting gift when he left the Gunners back in 2018.
