Bell Shakespeare’s 2016 season returns to tragedy, with artistic director Peter Evans’s production of Othello. The triumphant Moorish general, Othello, returns from battle with Desdemona, who has defied social convention and her father’s will to marry him.
Iago, his military ensign, resents this and the manipulator’s insinuations undermine Othello’s marriage until the Moor is overcome with murderous rage. Ray Chong Nee stars as Othello, and Yalin Ozuc as Iago, in the tragedy that probes the human capacity for jealousy and revenge.
